AutoCAD is a package of computer programs which make use of the DRAW command. DRAW is a macro-programming language that allows users to produce drawings, presentations, form data, and more, by assigning commands to specific keys on the keyboard. AutoCAD can open and save files in the native AutoCAD format, or import and export data to other applications, with additional software for batch conversion and printing.
Introduction of AutoCAD
Autodesk launched AutoCAD in 1982 to promote the idea of replacing printed 2D drawings with electronic 2D representations in the form of DRAW files. Software engineers such as Scott McNeel invented DRAW and introduced it to AutoCAD. AutoCAD is the first major success of AutoDesk, which later released other software such as Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

The initial version of AutoCAD was developed by a team of three programmers over a three-month period and sold to users for $495. From the beginning, AutoCAD’s developers targeted three types of users:
Architects and engineers, for whom designing building interiors and landscape plans was the primary application.
Manufacturers, for whom designing shop floors, machinery, and inventory was the primary application.
Commercial real estate, where property layouts are required for leasing and financing purposes.
Sales and service representatives who sell and install AutoCAD, as well as its companion program, RISE.
As AutoDesk released subsequent versions, the software evolved to focus on the users’ needs and ability to make use of new features. Initially, there was no document management, no sheet linking, no user interface standards, no guidelines on document consistency, no undo, and no batch processing. In 1992, the company developed a version of AutoCAD called “AutoCAD 5.0,” offering the first standalone Windows application. With this, AutoDesk began offering program updates and new versions as a subscription service. AutoCAD in its first decade was made for desktop applications; the move to the Internet was the logical next step.

AutoCAD includes an extensive software framework for building applications that are compatible with all versions of AutoCAD. This includes extensive tools for automation and analysis, real-time error detection, the ability to detect and configure client/server functionality, through the Unified Interface (UI). Additionally, all calls to AutoCAD, rather than being routed through the RPC, are passed through the TAP, the Transport Application Programming interface.
AutoCAD 2010 introduces object-oriented programming for the programming API, although this interface is largely based on scripting.
AutoCAD includes a system of components. Components include geometry (splines, polylines, arcs, circles and ellipses), screen objects (window and palette, dimension styles, styles, title and drawing frames), algorithms (text, arc, polygon, blocks, callouts and other graphics), events (drop, button, link and popup menu commands), animation (parabolic and linear), and tables. Components can be used in both 2D and 3D and can be associated with groups.
There are also four object modeling design tools:
Molecular modeling – tools such as the Design Library with a library of common geometry objects. For example, it can build a model of a gear train with gear, pinion and shaft.
Building tools – built from inter-relating components and features such as doors, windows, solid walls, roofs and floors
Physical modeling – tools such as the FEM and Nastran, which are used to model complex structures such as bridges, submarines, buildings, and engineering analysis.
Construction tools – drawing tools that facilitate architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical design.
The following list lists a few important functions and the components that provide these functions:
This function allows the creation of solids (a space with a thickness that is unique to the object). A solids property can be assigned to the drawing itself to define the thickness. A numeric property can be assigned to the property to define the thickness. A predefined thickness is also available.
The following components can be used to create solids:

Android – Upload image from my PC to server (correctly)
I’m trying to send a picture to the server by uploading it. I’m using this code:
List params = new ArrayList();
params.add(new BasicNameValuePair(“image”, “image.png”));
HttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost(SERVER_URL);
HttpResponse response = httpClient.execute(httpPost);
But I can’t get the picture uploaded. What should I do?
You are making your request using a HTTP GET request. Your image file is probably too large to fit inside a standard query string, and you will need to add a Content-type: or whatever parameter.
How to invoke a web service method with parameters using Xamarin.Forms
I am working on an Xamarin.Forms app. I would like to use Xamarin.Forms to invoke a webservice method with parameters.
Here is the webservice method:
public string Search(int id, int map)
Here is the calling webservice method:
public async void Search(int id, int map)
var client = new HttpClient();
client.BaseAddress = new Uri(WEBSERVICE_URL);
new AuthenticationHeaderValue(“Basic”, WEBSERVICE_AUTH_KEY);
